A new geology lab science course for the spring of 2012.  This course has been approved to meet the lab science general education requirement.  Class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:10 til 3:30.  Class will consist of a mix of short lecture presentation, hands-on learning activities, and  longer lab projects.

GY 199 Investigation Earth  introduces the Earth sciences with  hands-on classroom activities.  Course will look at processes that shape the Earth (i.e. plate tectonics), threaten our lives, (i.e.  earthquakes, volcanoes, huricanes), control our natural resources (water, fossils, metals), and govern our environment (climate change).

A requirement for this course will be that students bring a lap top computer to each class.  Students will make use of the web and freely available software (such as Google Earth) during class.

If you are interested in the course or have any questions please contact Dr. McNaught.
