I grew up in a small town in Kansas. My summers were spent playing tennis, swimming, and riding my bicycle. My winters were spent going to school and participating in football, basketball, and tennis.
I went to college at the University of Kansas, and have many good memories of the time I spent there.
My most interesting and unusual hobby is performing close-up sleight-of-hand magic. For almost five years I earned a meager living making things disappear and change colors. It was a lot of fun, and I still get a thrill from trying to create and perform new illusions. If you ever meet me in real life, ask me to do a trick for you. I almost always have some coins or cards in my pocket.
After many years in college I got degrees in history, philosophy, education, and computer science. Along the way I spent a couple of years studying in a seminary, and the longest year of my life in a law school.
