ELFE DONA, PHD, ADI KING, PHD, LINDA ZINS-ADAMS

Ohio AATG Annual Update 2012 Top-notch presenters at this year’s AATG Ohio Fall Conference included Dr. Dona (Wright State University), Kristina Wassmann (Centerville High School), Dr. Adi King (Ohio University), and Linda Zins-Adams
(Highlands High School, Kentucky).

Saturday morning began with a lovely breakfast at our hotel, the Hyatt Place in Worthington. Then, it was back to business with two top-notch workshops. The first one titled “Exploring Germany with Four of Our Five Senses:Teaching Diversity through Disability.
Learn the basics of German sign language and explore Braille” was presented by Dr. Adi King from Ohio University. After lunch, Linda Zins-Adams presented Zero to 300, or how to articulate the German classroom from Middle school to lead students to success at the AP level. Again, participants were given a multiple handouts which proved useful to me the following Monday at school.
Thank you, Linda, Adi, and Elfe for your fine
presentations!

ANNUAL AATG OHIO FALL CONFERENCE NOVEMBER 2-3, 2012

Twenty-three participants came from all over the state of Ohio, and even as far away as Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to participate in two days of fellowship, fun, and Deutschvergnügen. PEG MYERS HAILED FROM PITTSBURGH, PA.
Friday Focus:
Participants started to find their way to our new meeting venue, the Hyatt Place in Worthington around 3:00 pm. The conference started with a welcome by your new president, Kristina Wassmann.Together, we embarked upon a day of Herbstfun by
singing the song “Herbstwind”. Chocolate and cookies decorated the tables and participants were eagerly awaiting the simulation of economic proportions by yours truly and Elfe Dona (Wright State University).
During the simulation, participants learned so much, all of which could be found in the accompanying folder, which was overflowing with ready-to-use handouts. Gummibears, which were part of the
simulation, turned out to be a lovely appetizer to agenerous offering of cheese and wine, courtesy of our Webmaster, Mark Himmelein and our VP, DebbiePage. A relaxing evening ensued and we watched the movie “Erbsen auf halb Sechs,” a primer for
tomorrow´s presentation by Dr. Adi King. Dinner at J. Alexander´s rounded up the evening and gave us a few hours to enjoy our spacious hotel rooms before meeting for an 8:00 am breakfast the next morning.

Guten Rutsch und ein frohes neues Jahr (und dass ich Euch nächstes Jahr allesehe!!!) wünscht Euch:
Kristina Wassmann
